A yet to be identified young man reported to be a member of a two-man car snatching gang has been killed in the Aroh Road Area of Ughelli in Delta State after a failed attempt to snatch an SUV.

According to reports gathered from POLITICSGOVERNANCE, the gang members had accosted one Mr Atarhe, the owner of the SUV who was exchanging pleasantries with someone and ordered him not to move.

In disobedience, Mr Atarhe zoomed off and the robbers opened fire that hit him on the sides but he was able to escape to make an entry of the incident at the police station.

Luck however ran out for the deceased suspected robber when infuriated residents mobilized to give them a hot chase. He was apprehended and before the arrival of the policemen to the scene, the mob had killed him after recovery of a locally made gun from him.

“At about 4.30pm i left my home and as i was driving, i stopped at my christian shop to exchange pleasantries

“Just as we were talking, before i knew it, two boys one on the passenger side and the other at the driver side, the one on the passenger side told me not to move and if i do move, he will shoot.

“But because my car was still running, i moved and immediately he noticed that i disobeyed his instruction, he shot at me on my right and left hands and i struggled to drive to the police station from there, i was rushed to the hospital”. Atarhe told newsmen.
